Description
Amino acids are the building blocks of protein and are essential for health, recovery, and performance. There are approximately 20 amino acids that have been identified, but only nine are deemed essential because the body cannot synthesize them on its own. So it’s important to consume a sufficient amount of essential amino acids (EAAs) on a daily basis through food and/or supplementation.
Of the nine essential amino acids, three are also classified as branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), which include leucine, valine, and isoleucine. Branched-chain amino acids are arguably even more important for active individuals who are looking to maximize their performance and recovery because they’re required to fully activate muscle protein synthesis (MPS).
However, that doesn’t mean you should settle for a basic BCAA supplement, because all nine EAAs will likely provide even greater benefits. A true hard-working M’fer deserves more, which is exactly why we created The Grind.
The Grind is our premium EAA, BCAA, + Hydration formula that’s designed to be used before, during, and/or after training to enhance recovery, hydration, and performance. Instead of just creating a basic BCAA powder like many of our competitors, we decided to formulate the ultimate intra-workout supplement. Take one look at the label and you can tell that The Grind is one of the most comprehensive amino acid products on the market.
In each serving of The Grind you’ll find:
- 2.5 grams of EAAs
- 5 grams of BCAAs
In total, you’re getting 7.5 grams of amino acids in every scoop, which will help boost recovery by decreasing muscle protein breakdown and increasing muscle protein synthesis.
In addition to the EAAs and BCAAs, The Grind contains several ingredients that further promote recovery, hydration, and performance, such as:
- L-glutamine
- Raw coconut water concentrate
- Betaine anhydrous
- L-Ornithine AKG
- Electrolytes (sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium)
The Grind is one of our best-selling supplements for a number of reasons. It’s versatile, tasty, and excellent for boosting recovery, performance, and hydration. Since The Grind doesn’t contain any stimulants, you can take it any time of the day, even on rest days. Not to mention, The Grind uses fermented amino acids, so it’s vegan-friendly!
So if you’re actually serious about maximizing your performance and recovery, don’t settle for an inferior amino acid supplement. Instead, grab a tub of The Grind and keep chasing those gains.

Ingredient Breakdown:
ESSENTIAL AMINO ACIDS
EAAs (including BCAAs) stimulate muscle protein synthesis, which is the scientific name for building muscle. However, each amino acid offers its own unique benefits, so let’s cover each one more in-depth.
LYSINE HYDROCHLORIDE
Besides contributing to MPS activation, lysine also plays an important role in both the immune and hematopoietic systems (produces red blood cells). It also assists in the production of collagen — the main protein found in connective tissue — and carnitine, a compound that’s essential for fatty acid oxidation.
THREONINE
Threonine is a precursor to glycine and serine, two amino acids that are heavily involved in collagen synthesis and muscle tissue repair/development. Furthermore, threonine is used to make mucin, which is a glycoprotein that’s important for gastrointestinal and immune system health.
HISTIDINE
Histidine is involved in a number of physiological functions, but most importantly it’s used, alongside beta-alanine, to create carnosine. Carnosine is a lactic acid buffer that’s highly concentrated in skeletal muscle. By delaying lactic acid accumulation, carnosine can significantly boost performance, especially muscular endurance.
PHENYLALANINE
Phenylalanine is a precursor to several neurotransmitters, including norepinephrine, epinephrine, and dopamine. Neurotransmitters are chemical messengers that help translate signals from the central nervous system to the peripheral nervous system. Low levels of the neurotransmitters listed above can negatively affect mood, focus, cognition, and physical performance.
TRYPTOPHAN
Tryptophan is primarily used for serotonin production. Serotonin is an important hormone that regulates sleep, mood, digestion, memory, and appetite. Tryptophan is also needed for the synthesis of several other compounds, such as melatonin, tryptamine, niacin, NAD/NADP, and kynurenine.
BRANCHED CHAIN AMINO ACIDS
LEUCINE
Leucine is often considered to be the king of amino acids because it’s the primary activator of MPS. Without a sufficient amount of leucine present, your ability to recover and build muscle will be drastically reduced. This is why leucine is the highest-dosed amino acid in The Grind, so you reap all of its muscle-building benefits.
ISOLEUCINE
Similar to leucine, isoleucine also significantly increases MPS, but it’s also capable of enhancing glucose uptake into skeletal muscle. Glucose is one of the body’s primary fuel sources. So isoleucine may help boost performance and facilitate recovery by shuttling more glucose to the working muscles.
VALINE
In addition to activating MPS, valine contributes to the synthesis of glycogen. Glycogen is the body’s way of storing carbohydrates for later use. Glycogen is mainly present in skeletal muscle and is used to fuel exercise or in the liver to maintain appropriate levels of blood glucose. Having adequate glycogen levels is crucial for energy production, recovery, muscle building, and performance.
HYDRATION & RECOVERY BLEND
GLUTAMINE
Glutamine is classified as a non-essential amino acid since the body can produce it endogenously. However, there are times when your body could benefit from more than it can create on its own, such as injury, illness, or intense exercise. Glutamine is involved in a variety of bodily functions, but it’s especially important for muscle growth/repair, immune system function, and gastrointestinal health.
RAW COCONUT WATER CONCENTRATE
Coconut water is abundant in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that provide both health and performance benefits. We specifically included raw coconut water concentrate in The Grind because it contains several electrolytes, such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, and sodium, that significantly boost hydration.
BETAINE ANHYDROUS
Betaine anhydrous, also known as trimethylglycine, is a naturally occurring non-essential amino acid that acts as an osmolyte and methyl donor. Betaine draws water into muscle cells, which promotes hydration and pumps. Betaine also reduces levels of homocysteine and increases creatine production. Due to these mechanisms of action, betaine may increase strength, power, endurance, lean muscle mass, and promote cardiovascular health.
ORNITHINE AKG
Ornithine AKG is an amino acid that plays a major role in the urea cycle, along with citrulline and arginine. The urea cycle is responsible for removing ammonia from the body by converting it into urea. Ammonia is a very toxic molecule that’s produced from the metabolism of protein. Excessive levels of ammonia can negatively affect health and performance. So we included ornithine AKG in The Grind to keep ammonia levels at bay.
ELECTROLYTES
In addition to EAAs, BCAAs, and the other ingredients that promote hydration, performance, and recovery, The Grind also contains the following electrolytes:
- Calcium
- Magnesium
- Sodium
- Potassium
In general, electrolytes are minerals that have an electrical charge and are involved in muscle contractions, regulating the body’s pH levels and hydration. Electrolyte imbalances can lead to several issues, such as cramping, fatigue, and headaches. Fortunately, The Grind will help replenish key electrolytes that are often lost from exercise so you can continue to perform at your best.
